Differences between 'Hard Sell' and 'Fast Sell'
Hard Sell is when the voice-over-talent emphasises
key words and phrases within a script. A Hard Sell script comes
close to
being underwritten, which allows the voice-talent time to emphasise
the client's name, sales gimmick, special offer, etc..
A Fast Sell script is one that's purposely overwritten
to create a sense of urgency. The talent has to read it
really fast to fit all your words into the time allocated.
('Overwritten' definition in context: crammed teeming full
with many and lots of words) .
Sum up: Fast Sell - lottsa words, Hard Sell - not so many.
(If you label your scripts incorrectly our voice talent give runtime errors.)
For a normal 30 second ad, there should be no more than 75 words
in the copy. For a 15 second ad, it's 35 words.
These are considered the industry standards. A softer sell would
have less around 10 less words, and hard sell would have an extra
10 words.
Remember also, a phone number is not a word. Each number equals
one word. 46391636 equals 8 words.
